Toward the new century and the Mediterranean
With the turn of the century, the Foundation and the Institute have decided to widen their horizons to the whole Mediterranean, South-Eastern Europe and the Near East. Its intensions are to cooperate with other countries in order to improve their standards in pediatric health care, attract new patients to the hospital and strengthen its standing on an international level.
The Mediterranean is the sea of the Institute and of the Foundation. The Mediterranean represents the sea of exchange, cultural relations and the meeting of peoples. Given its new orientation, the Foundation faces new challenges in research, training and cooperation. The goal is to tie the call for children's rights to actions for their well-being. The Foundation MedChild and the international conference "Children and the Mediterranean" are the first steps in a direction which will lead to the training of pediatricians in Mediterranean countries, virtual health programs and new facilities for the reception of the patients and their families.
