The birth of MedChild
The MedChild Foundation is a private foundation founded in conclusion of the international conference "Children and the Mediterranean". The conference took place in January, 2004 and was an opportunity for experts, operators and institutions from throughout the entire Mediterranean to meet. The state and future of children in the Mediterranean and its future were the theme of three days of workshops and debates.
Projects
- The Map of the Mediterranean Child and the Children's Well-being Index: the seminal document of the "Children and the Mediterranean" conference. It consists of a series of qualitative and quantitative indicators on the conditions of children in the Mediterranean region.
- Mediterranean Cooperation Network: keeping other important research centers in contact with the Gaslini Institute;
- training program for doctors and nurses in the Mediterranean (Gaslini International);
- intervention project in emergency areas with first aid and remote diagnosis mobile units;
- MedChild Best Practices Award: an awardfor projects which have obtained the best outcomes for the well-being of children.
